Until I began chanting in Sanskrit, I had no idea of the great quiet perfection of language. Sanskrit fills me up the way silence does.
In April 2012, I took a 14 hour course, where I began learning Sanskrit.
This language is, to me, the embodiment of the Divine. The union of consciousness and manifestation. When I am chanting, I feel the manifestation of The Inner Marriage awaken in me.
Because of the deep inspiration I have experienced with Sanskrit, I have persuaded my Sanskrit teacher, Jo Brill, to offer the introductory course here in Beacon, NY.
Jo is fun, patient, competent, and encouraging. At the end of this weekend, you will be able to read simple sanskrit words. The sounds of the sanskrit devanagari will run through your body. And you will likely meet some really cool people, who are also learning this amazing language.
Jo studies with Vyaas Houston of the American Sanskrit Institute and serves on ASI’s faculty. She has also studied at Oxford, where she earned a master's degree with distinction, and Columbia. Jo was led to the beauty of Sanskrit by her yoga practice of 20 years. An RYT-500, Jo trained at Yoga for Well-Being in Goshen, NY. She continues her yoga studies with Mia Azcue.
